Wildlife painted the way it is actually met: at eye level, on its own ground, in its own light.

Every piece, on one wall.

Wildlife in their own habitat, grand vistas under shifting light, and monochrome drawings that strip a subject back to raw texture and form. 19 oils, 14 graphite drawings, all originals.

“Close Encounter” — an original oil painting of a brown bear stepping from the treeline, by Bill Langis
/ From the artist's notes — Close Encounter

“I was filming two grizzly sisters from a small wooden bridge up the Toba Inlet in British Columbia. They came up the bank — the bigger one maybe thirty feet away and barely five feet below me. She turned her head, and I saw the eye.”

Every piece in the collection carries a note like this one: where the reference came from, how the composition was built, which decision made the painting work. It's the part collectors ask about — and the part almost every artist's website leaves out.

Scale is the hardest thing to judge from a screen. These are the same originals, hung — so you can read the size before you commit to it.

/ The artist

A life spent capturing the wilds.

Bill Langis is a multiple award-winning fine artist whose work is driven by a lifelong passion for visual storytelling. For more than three decades he has refined a distinctive style across mediums and subjects — evocative wildlife pieces, striking landscapes, and detailed pencil drawings that have earned him hundreds of awards, including Best in Show and People's Choice honors.

His journey began early, inspired by the dynamic imagery of Marvel Comics and the richly illustrated worlds of fantasy literature. Influenced by artists like Steve Ditko and Frank Frazetta, he spent countless hours honing his drawing — an early passion that became a lifelong pursuit.

The pivotal moment came in 1990, on a visit to Yellowstone National Park. The beauty of the natural world sparked a deep connection to wildlife and landscape art, and an ever-growing body of work followed.

Working primarily in oil and graphite, Bill creates pieces that capture both the power and the subtlety of his subjects — technical precision paired with a genuine appreciation for nature, light and storytelling. A former construction professional, he brings a strong work ethic and a grounded perspective to the studio. Outside it, he finds his reference through nature photography, travel and time spent outdoors.
